Rob MacLeod

Hi, My name is Rob MacLeod from Sault Ste Marie, Ontario and I curl at the Soo Curlers Association.  I am a Professional Forester with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.  I am married to Rejeanne and we have two children – Jean-Guy (26) and Michelle (24), who curl competitively out of Vancouver B.C.

My ancestral home is on the Isle of Skye where the Dunvegan Castle is the seat of the MacLeod of MacLeod, chief of the Clan MacLeod. I am interested in visiting that area and all of Scotland. I have an interest in genealogy related to the family name MacLeod and related septs in Scotland.

Curling accomplishments:

  • President Iroquois Falls Junior Curling Club 2005 - 2010;

  • Vice – President Iroquois Falls Curling Club 2007, 2008, 2009;

  • Member Northern Ontario Curling Association 2001 - present;

  • Club Coach Instructor (level 2) since 2003;

  • Competed in the Provincial Travellers Club Competition 2006 (Silver);

  • I am a certified official and timer and participate in all major events whenever I can.

Other interests/accomplishments/interesting facts

I raised my family in a small Northern Ontario town where opportunities for kids is somewhat limited. As a result, I volunteered at the local curling club and obtained my club coach instructors level. I taught my kids as well as many of the local kids to curl from ages 6 through to 18. It was an enjoyable experience and I often learned as much from the kids as they did from me.

I currently curl out of the home club of Team Brad Jacobs, Olympic Gold medalists at the 2014 Winter Olympics and enjoy running into them at the club, helping Brad with the Learn to Curl League and, cheering them on in competitions.
